A wedding tent

25 May 2017

More and more couples are choosing to hold their celebration under a tent. It is a great alternative to a venue — you can celebrate in the place that matters most to you: your family home’s yard, a meadow, by the sea or a lake.

In our changeable climate a tent is almost a requirement — it protects from both rain and wind, and on a good day you can open every wall and let the warm summer air in.

A tent works for both the ceremony and the celebration. It is often pitched in a manor or guesthouse yard as a dance floor, snack area, or activities space. The range of sizes and options on the Latvian market is wide enough to find a fit for any event.

How big a tent do you need?

A useful starting point is 2.5 m² per person, adjusted for the activities you have planned.

Decorating the wedding tent

To create an unforgettable mood, dress the tent. Drape it in fabric — wrap it in a soft haze. We recommend white as the base: it reflects light beautifully, and with a few LED bulbs the evening gains a cosy, festive glow. For drama, hang chandeliers from the ceiling; for romance, string up bulb garlands — they double as a wonderful light source.

Mind the ground

The surface the tent sits on matters. If you plan on pitching in nature, a floor will be needed for everyone's comfort. Floors cost roughly as much as the tent itself, and on uneven ground budget for levelling.
